Changes to Bus Routes Next Week
Dear MLSD Families,
The Moses Lake School District was notified by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) of an emergency closure of the I-90 Hansen Road overpass (Exit 174) due to structural deterioration identified during a recent inspection. The closure will take effect Saturday, January 17, at 6:00 a.m. and is expected to remain in place for an indefinite period of time.
According to WSDOT, the closure is necessary for public safety, including preventing debris from falling onto Interstate 90. WSDOT inspectors will be on site Monday, January 19, to conduct additional inspections and testing. At this time, there is no estimated timeline for repairs or reopening.
Because this closure affects traffic patterns and access in our community, some school bus routes will be impacted. The MLSD Transportation Department has been actively working on plans to safely manage necessary route adjustments.
Temporary Bus Transportation Plan
A temporary transportation plan will be in place Tuesday, January 20 through Friday, January 23, 2026. A more permanent plan will be communicated by Friday, January 23.

Special Education Transportation

Families should anticipate that bus times may vary, particularly during the initial days of the closure as traffic patterns adjust. We appreciate your patience and understanding as our transportation team continues to respond to this situation.
Additional updates will be shared as more information becomes available from WSDOT and as transportation plans are finalized.
